Our municipal property taxes pay for policing, our fire department, snow-plows, sanitation, public works, the township library, municipal salaries, park maintenance and even legal costs.

West Orange taxpayers deserve a government that treats taxpayer dollars as carefully as residents treat their own.

The Mayor is the chief executive officer, responsible for preparing and presenting the municipal budget to the Council. That responsibility must be taken seriously.

An on-time budget is not just a formality. It allows the Township to plan responsibly, and give the Town Council and the public time to review spending.

During her first year on the Township Council, Joyce used her experience as an investigative reporter and identified $3.4 million in waste, without cutting staffing or essential programs. This amounted to a $200 reduction in your property tax bill. This took attention to detail and a willingness to question spending.

As Mayor, Joyce will overhaul the current budget process and deliver on-time budgets, free of waste and bloated salaries. We can lower property tax assessments without cutting essential services.  We can make West Orange more affordable by doing what every homeowner does, watching how we spend and ensuring that we’re getting what we pay for at the right price.
